Santa Laurensia

Alumni

There was something different about this year’s Independence Day celebration. On Saturday, August 17, 2019, in addition to the grand ceremony and traditional Independence Day competitions, a Homecoming event and the formation of the Laurensia Alumni Association (IKAL) also took place.

Through this Homecoming event, in line with its meaning, Santa Laurensia invited all alumni to “come home” to the school. At the same time, the Santa Laurensia Alumni Association (IKAL) was officially inaugurated, having been initiated this year. With this association, it is hoped that alumni can maintain strong relationships within the large Santa Laurensia family.

Dressed uniformly in red and black, complete with IKAL pins, several committee representatives, alumni from the 1998-2019 classes, gathered as early as 7 AM to participate in the ceremony. Deddy Sugiyanto, an alumnus from the first graduating class, delivered his advice as the Ceremony Leader that morning.

After the ceremony, all the IKAL committee members, dressed in all black, were ready to welcome the invited alumni arriving at 10 AM. At the entrance of Columbus Hall, hundreds of alumni took turns re-registering after previously RSVP’ing for their attendance that morning. The special IKAL card for alumni was also promoted.

At 11:30 AM, the event began with the singing of the Santa Laurensia March, which has a special place in the hearts of all alumni. Mr. Stevanus Liverdy (a.k.a. Mr. Didi), the Principal of the Junior High School and head of the Homecoming event, then gave the opening remarks. This was followed by an explanation about IKAL by alumnus Oge Arthemus and the signing of the IKAL founding charter by Mr. Haryanto Tirtohadiguno, the Founder of Santa Laurensia School, and representatives from IKAL: Deddy Sugiyanto, Hiu Theresa, and Luna Bellina. The IKAL logo was then revealed, marking the official establishment of IKAL. Mr. Haryanto also delivered a speech expressing his full support for IKAL. The speeches continued with Hiu Theresa, the head of IKAL, and Deddy Sugiyanto, the mentor of IKAL. There was also a symbolic inauguration of IKAL with the distribution of IKAL cards to each class representative from 1998 to 2019. After the group photo, the event continued with a Talk Show with Mrs. Lena, Mrs. Yati, and Mr. Higinus.

This event also served as a reunion for the alumni to reconnect and reminisce about their school days. A photo booth wall was provided that day to capture the joyful moments.

See you at next year’s Homecoming event!
