A Tremendous Journey To The Lion City

After 5 months preparation, of interviewing, social trainings, performance practice, and cultural workshops, finally the trip that all the students had been waiting for, was about to start. On March, 31 – April, 5 2008 for Batch 1 and

April, 7 – April, 12 2008 for Batch 2, two groups of students with the total of 83 students & 10 teachers made a remarkable trip to Singapore. On the first day of our visits to the school, the students received a very warm welcome and a grand ceremony from River Valley Primary School (RVPS) and Concord Primary School (CPS). Both schools had prepared two unique programs for our excited students. RVPS had asked one of the Wushu (Chinese martial arts) trainers to demonstrate a few styles of Wushu movements. The students were so excited by Mr Andy’s kung fu styles. Some students even said “Mr Andy is one of the strongest men on earth”, because our student, who is very tall, Yehezkiel Fulia could stand on Mr Andy’s thighs for a few minutes! Wow! CPS also went for a martial arts themed, welcome and took our students (together with their students) for a Tae Kwon Do lesson in The Singapore Discovery Center. Both school’s students enjoyed the lesson so much! One of our students, Dimitri Prabowo even got to demonstrate some movements on stage!

The students also had amazing and fruitful moments at The Singapore Science Center, The Philatelic Museum, The Times Bookstore, Robotics, Singapore Discovery Center, and last but not least, Sentosa Island. On the farewell day in RVPS and CPS, some students cried aloud when they had to say goodbye to each other. Even though they had only just met, they felt so attached to each other. It was a good start to a wonderful friendship they can continue to explore.

This trip gave our students a truly wonderful & meaningful experience. At the end of this trip, they were assigned to make a report based on what they had explored and learnt throughout their trip. They are also going to present their reports in front of their friends, teachers, and parents.
