Although baseball is as well-known as basketball and soccer, it is a fun game to play. Baseball is not only a team sport, but also an individual sport in which the 9 players have their own defensive positions and batting orders. Each player is trained to become a good batter for playing offense and to become an active and fast strategic planner for playing defense. In addition, there are many baseball tournaments all year round.
According to the LBC players’ parents, there are many advantages to playing baseball. Participating in many tournaments gives the children valuable experiences such as developing friendships, socializing, increasing self-esteem and encouraging teammates among others. On the other hand, to lose is not the end of the world. It is just part of the lesson that the children have to accept in order to be players and to do better the next game.
For those who are not very familiar with Laurensia Baseball Club (LBC) activities, the practice times are every Tuesday 1430–1600 and Saturday 0800–1000. Most LBC members participate in many tournaments every year. (Ms. Lisa)
